Members visit Peter, Helen and Daniel at Hinde Street after providing the music for the London Stedfast Association Service at Wesley’s Chapel, City Road on October 13.
The 1st Chandlers Ford BB visited Beaulieu motor museum today. The weather was fantastic and the group enjoyed the museum, the monorail, the bus, and the Top Gear experience! We also arrived on the first day of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang exhibition, so lots of information and memorabilia. It was a brilliant day!
The South West Hants Battalion held it’s annual Cross Country run last weekend on Saturday 16th May 2015 on Southampton Common. The event was held near the boating lake, with each race length adjusted for the age of the competitors. A total of 7 members from the company took part across all the age groups, this was and increase on numbers from last year.
The first race was a 1 mile run for school years 4 and 5. Well it was supposed to be 1 mile, however due to a mistake by one of the stewards the race ended up being more like 1.5 miles long. We had 2 representatives in this race, Charlie finished 1st and Oliver finished 4th. Well done to both boys.
The second race was again over the same distance of 1 mile, but was for school years 6 and 7. We had 3 representatives in this race, with Elliot finishing 2nd, Kieran finishing 3rd and Adam finishing 5th. Well done to all 3 boys.
The third race was for company section boys, school years 8,9 and 10, and was run over a 2 mile distance. We had 1 entry in this race, where Kieran finished 4th. Well done.
The final race was for staff, again over the 2 mile distance, although they did take a short cut towards the end (after guidance by the stewards). 1 Entry in this race was Alex, who finished 2nd.
Well done to all that took part, a good turn out from Chandler’s Ford, but let’s see if we can take a few more next year. It was also nice to see some competitors travel over from the Isle of Wight, well done to those guys for taking the effort to travel and take part.
Report from Alex Mould
23 members of the band attended Chandler’s Ford Methodist church to provide the music for the morning service on 19 April 2015. The service was led by Mrs D. Dalby and the band provided the music for 5 hymns, also playing ‘Minuet from Berenice’ by Handel and ‘A Gaelic Blessing’ by Rutter during the service, plus playing some back ground music before and after the service. The music was well received and encouraging comments were made to the musical director after the service.
